Types of zones in Jim Corbett National park

Jim Corbett National Park area is divided into eight major zones & some tracks too. Each zone is famous for its unique landscape, vegetation, and wildlife sighting. Each zone has their opening and closing season time, and whether few of the zones remain open throughout the year closes only on heavy rainfall. Here are the different zones:

1. Bijrani Zone:

Known for its dense sal forests and grasslands. Bijrani zone is Jim Corbett National Park's oldest and most varied area. You can experience a jungle jeep safari with your family and see a broad range of animals, including the royal Bengal tiger, tuskers, deer, leopards, birds and many more. If you would prefer to spend the night in the forest, Bijrani offers that option as well. The unique topography of the zone is a perfect complement to the rich animal life and birdlife including Brahminy Duck and other endangered species like the Bengal Florican. In addition to its rich wildlife, Bijrani is well-known for its undulating topography, which combines hilly terrain with gentle open plains, creating a unique challenge for safarikers. 2. Dhikala Zone:

Dhikala Zone in Jim Corbett National Park is one of the most popular and desirable places in the park due to its stunning setting and variety of flora and fauna. This is Jim Corbett National Park's oldest and most varied area. Offering breathtaking views of the Ramganga River and the surrounding hills, Dhikala is the largest and most visited zone. It's a fantastic place to see a broad range of animals, including the royal Bengal tiger, tuskers, deer, and many more. Dhikala's entrance gate is called Dhangari. The distance between Dhikala and Ramangar, the main city, is 28 kilometers. In addition to offering the jungle safari by canter during the day visit, Dhikala offers the option of a night stay for those who like to spend time in the forest. This option also has the same opening and closing times as the day visit.

Dhikala zone is situated right next to the most famous grasslands of the park and the banks of the Ramganga River makes Dhikala one of the best spots for tiger spotting. The zone is inhabited by a large variety of wildfires such as Royal Bengal tigers, elephants, leopards and deer, as well as wild boars. 3. Jhirna Zone

Jhirna, a deciduous forest zone area with a mixture of grasslands and forests, is situated on the park's southern boundary. Sloth Bears, deer, and wild boar can be found there in the season time. Dhela is Jhirna's entrance gate. Ramnagar, the main city area, is only 15 km away. The Jhirna zone is easily accessible all year round, offers a night stay in jhirna zone option as well, and, if you're lucky, you may even see sloth bears in the season.

4. Dhela Zone:

Dhela zone forest area is known for its grasslands and forests area, Dhela zone area is home to a wide range of species, such as elephants, Royal Bengal Tigers, and deers. Since Jhirna and Dhela share the same forest area, Dhela is the entry gate to Dhela. Ramnagar is only 15 km away from the city. Like Jhirna and Phato, the Dhela zone is open all season long and offers government-built guest rooms for night stay in dhela zone.

Dhela Zone, which is part of the Jim Corbett National Park, is very popular because of the area's biodiversity. Dhela zone enables its visitors to experience the vast variety of flora and fauna of the area. The area contains dense forests , broad grasslands and riverbeds that are seasonal in nature. 5. Garjiya/Ringora Zone:

Garjiya is a picturesque region with a variety of trees, grasslands, and wildlife that is near the Bijrani zone forest area as Garjiya shares the same forest area as Bijrani. Tigers, leopards, and tuskers are among the creatures that call it home. The zone was open to visitors all year round last year. 5 kilometers from the main city ramnagar, Because of its trees and forest space, the Garjiya zone is well-known for its infrequent leopard sightings. It is also the ideal place near the city that is easily accessible.

The Garjiya Zone, which is a part of Jim Corbett National Park, is famous for its leopard sighting.  The region has a variety of flora such as trees, bamboo thickets, and diverse shrubs. 6. Durga Devi Zone:

Durga devi forest area, which consists of riverine ecosystems, meadows, and woodlands, is the most aesthetically pleasing part of the jim corbett national park. Due to Durga Devi's proximity to the Dhikala zone, their opening and closing times coincide. The entry gate to Durgadevi, which is 34 kilometers from the city, offers the best views of the mountains and surrounding area for your jungle jeep safari because of its steep location.

Durgadevi Zone, located in the northern part of Jim Corbett National Park, is known for its rugged terrain, dense forests, and the picturesque landscape of the hills as mountains are easily visible from Durgadevi zone. This zone is home to a variety of flora, including sal, teak, and bamboo trees, along with rich undergrowth of shrubs and herbs. 7. Phato Zone :

Phanto zone became part of the park just years back by the prime minister itself, and for the jeep allocation for the Phanto zone, there are 50 jeeps per slot. 50 jeeps are permitted for one time slot in the phanto zone; the distance of the phanto zone is approx. 18 km from the main city area.

The Phato zone is known for its thrilling jeep safari that passes through a maze of forests,villages, grasslands, and rugged hills. The zone is also abundant in sal, teak, and acacia trees. Among its rich fauna are Bengal tigers, leopards, elephants, wild boars, and several types of deer, including sambar and spotted deer. Jeep safari in Phato zone allows one to easily view these animals in Phato Zone's safari jeep. There are also birds such as Indian Peafowl, vultures, and waterfowl that fans of ornithology can see and appreciate. The area is so diversified in its beauty, it is certainly a place for endless remembering.

8. Sitabani zone:

Although the Sitabani zone was part of the forest, it was often regarded as a buffer zone hence the wildlife and animals, both are in good no.seen here too. The number of jeeps permitted in the Sitabani forest region at any given time is also 60.There are two distinct entrances leading into the woodland. Tedha's entry gate is about 7 kilometers from the main city area, whereas Ramnagar and Pawalgarh are about 25 kilometers apart.
